Small Groups: where the big church becomes the small church

We are excited that you are looking into the small group ministry here at Northcliffe. Our desire for all of our small groups is that they are places where we can grow in our faith, in a community of people who love and care about us, kind of like a loving extended family. There are two different kinds of small groups at Northcliffe that we would love for you to join.


Life Groups:

A Life Group is the place where we connect with the family atmosphere of Northcliffe. We want your experience in a Life Group to feel a bit like visiting home. The Life Groups at Northcliffe cover a variety of ages and stages of life. We would love for you to try one out, but if that one doesn’t feel like a good fit for you, we would love for you to try another one. Below is a list of the Life Groups, we look forward to meeting with you soon.

Christian Life Development (CLD)

Christian Life Development or CLD’s is a time when we dig in deeply to the foundations of our faith and the practical way in which we live out our faith. Each of these classes have the intention of helping individual believers deepen or ground their faith in a community of believers in Christ. CLD’s rotate from semester to semester. Below are the current CLD’s that are taking place at Northcliffe.


The Jesus Journey

The Jesus Journey. This is a verse by verse study of the book of Matthew. In this study we will see how Matthew intended to show how Jesus Christ was the promised Messiah. More than any other Gospel, the Gospel of Matthew quotes the Old Testament to show how Jesus fulfilled the words of all the prophets. We will also see Matthew’s love and concern for people as he shares his experiences his life on this journey with
The Real God

Our distorted image of God is at the root of a lot of our problems. The God we’ve created in our minds is powerless to deliver us from evil or transform our lives. The Real God: How He Longs for You to See Him is an in-depth study of seven attributes of God – his goodness, sovereignty, holiness, wisdom, justice, love, and faithfulness. It will change the way you think about God, yourself, and others.
Financial Peace University

We all want to be financially secure. We all want our finances to be a way we can serve God and be prepared for the future. The way our culture is now we see far more places where we find overspending and over extension to be the norm. Learn biblically based strategies to pay off your debt, save for the future and spend wisely. Financial Peace University will help you better understand a biblical way of understanding your finances and ultimately your relationship with God.
James, Mercy Triumphs by Beth Moore (Women’s Study)

James, Jesus’ own brother, started out as a skeptic. See how one glimpse of the resurrected Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple. James writes one of the most challenging and encouraging books in the New Testament. Topics in this study include: joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility, and prayer.
Discerning the Voice of God by Pricilla Shirer

Discover the root to clear and daily communication with God—humble obedience. Learn how surrender unlocks His many blessings intended for us, centers us in His will, and helps us discern His voice in everyday life. This is a great opportunity, to challenge yourself with daily Bible study, that will help you better understand the voice of God and to know who, what, and where he has called you to be.
Isaiah 40-66 (Men’s Bible Study)

The Northcliffe Men’s Bible Study will continue an in depth weekly study of Isaiah Chapters 40-66. Come and learn of Isaiah’s prophecies of how the “Holy One of Israel” comforts and redeems His people through a new Exodus from the ultimate slavery – the slavery to sin.
Steadfast Love

There are times when worship overflows effortlessly from a heart full of gratitude and praise. And there are times when God seems far and we feel we have nothing to offer. Throughout it all, God shows us His steadfast love. Psalm 107 is a call to worship. It reminds us that each season of life is an opportunity to reveal the anchor of our souls. For there is no fear for the one who fears the Lord, the one whose soul is anchored in His steadfast love.


CS Lewis

CS Lewis reached out to the very heart of those who struggled with Christianity, its claims, and its influence on culture. Come meet CS Lewis through one of his most well known works; Mere Christianity.
Systematic Theology

Many people react negatively to the word theology, believing that it involves dry, fruitless arguments about minute points of doctrine, but everyone is a theologian. Any time we think about the teaching of the Bible and strive to understand it, we are engaging in theology. Therefore, it is important that we put the Bible’s varied teachings together in a systematic fashion, using proper, time-tested methods of interpretation so as to arrive at a theology that is founded on truth.
War Waged: Angels, Demons, and the Children of God

The players are angel, demons, human beings, and the triumphant God, who has given us a way to overcome the places our enemy wants to devour us..
Conversational Sign
Leader: Judy Towne

In this conversational sign course learn the basics of how to communicate with the deaf community in our church and in our community at large. Learn to start and carry out meaningful conversations with our neighbors who speak a fun, interesting, and dynamic language.  Learn a language so we can continue to show the love of God to our neighbors.
