Small Groups: where the big church becomes the small church

We are excited that you are looking into the small group ministry here at Northcliffe. Our desire for all of our small groups is that they are places where we can grow in our faith, in a community of people who love and care about us, kind of like a loving an extended family. There are two different kinds of small groups at Northcliffe that we would love for you to join.

Life Groups:

A Life Group is the place where we connect with the family atmosphere of Northcliffe. We want your experience in a Life Group to feel a bit like visiting home. The Life Groups at Northcliffe cover a variety of ages and stages of life. We would love for you to try one out, but if that one doesn’t feel like a good fit for you, we would love for you to try another one. Below is a list of the Life Groups, we look forward to meeting with you soon.
Life Groups that meet at 9:00 am
Life Groups that meet at the 10:30 am

Christian Life Development (CLD)

Christian Life Development or CLD’s is a time when we dig in deeply to the foundations of our faith and the practical way in which we live out our faith. Each of these classes have the intention of helping individual believers deepen or ground their faith in a community of believers in Christ. CLD’s rotate from semester to semester. Below are the current CLD’s that are taking place at Northcliffe.

Be Ready– Living Life in the Last Days

Leader: Pastor Jerry
When: Wednesdays @11 AM | 8/16-12/13
Location: A-7 | Cost: None
There are numerous questions people ask regarding the prophetic last days. Are we living in the last days? Can we know when the end is near? Even though the writer of 1 Thessalonians, the Apostle Paul, will address these topics, his emphasis to believers is the same as Jesus when speaking of the last days – be ready (Matthew 24:44). The Second Coming isn’t a theory to be discussed – it is a truth to be believed and should affect how followers of Jesus live their lives.

Hope Beyond Today

Leader: Fran Welch
When: Wednesdays @6:30 | 9/6 – 11/8
Location: Conference Room |Cost: $11

You will be encouraged and comforted by others who are experiencing the same type of heartache, sorrow and loneliness you feel.

The Real God

Facilitator: Pastor Jerry |Wednesdays @ 6:30 PM |8/16-10/4 | D 7-9
Our distorted image of God is at the root of a lot of our problems. The God we’ve created in our minds is powerless to deliver us from evil or transform our lives. Chip Ingram’s The Real God: How He Longs for You to See Him is an in-depth study of seven attributes of God – his goodness, sovereignty, holiness, wisdom, justice, love, and faithfulness. It will change the way you think about God, yourself, and others. As you see Him as He longs to be seen, you will pray and live with a deep peace and a renewed purpose.

How to Read, Interpret, and Teach the Bible
Leader: John Reddy |Wednesdays @ 6:30 PM | 8/16-11/1 | D 8-10
The usual protest among people is that one should learn to read, believe, and obey the Bible and not worry about interpreting it. In reality, every person has some presuppositions about a text. Every reader is also an interpreter. Although people read the same Bible, they arrive at different interpretations of the same test. This 12- weeks study will equip you with how to read, interpret, and teach the Bible.

Introduction to Systematic Theology
Leader: Armand Zeron | Wednesdays @ 6:30 PM | 8/16-12/6 | D 30
Many people react negatively to the word theology, believing that it involves dry, fruitless arguments about minute points of doctrine. Yet as Dr. R.C. Sproul argues, everyone is a theologian. Any time we think about the teaching of the Bible and strive to understand it, we are engaging in theology. Therefore, it is important that we put the Bible’s varied teachings together in a systematic fashion, using proper, time-tested methods of interpretation so as to arrive at a theology that is founded on truth.

Gideon: Your Weakness God’s Strength (Women’s Study)
Leader: Debbie Gabelman |Mondays @ 7:00 PM | 10/16-11/27 | A-7
When we hear the name Gideon, most of us think about his 300 soldiers or a fleece spread beneath the evening sky. But Gideon’s story is so much bigger than that. This is a story about God and His people—His love for them, as well as His strength operating in spite of, even through, their weakness. Instead of ignoring, neglecting, or trying to escape your weaknesses, learn to see them as the gifts given specifically and strategically by God. If you’ve ever felt insufficient, ill-equipped, incompetent, or outnumbered, this study is for you.

A Study of the Gospel of John: That You May Believe

Leaders: Chris Chambers and John Reddy | Sundays @ 5:30 PM | Family Life Center
God Almighty, before the beginning of the world, thought about us and planned our redemption. As Christians, since the Holy Spirit dwells within our hearts, we should all find ourselves desiring to know God more intimately. The gospel of John helps us learn more about God by bringing us face-to-face with God incarnate, the Word made flesh, the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
